O There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays

The holidays are my absolute FAVORITE time of year. There’s just something about this time of year that brings about extra joy in people. I love scrolling through my newsfeeds on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc…. and seeing all of the remarkable family traditions that everyone has.

One of my absolute favorite traditions from growing up is my family’s annual Christmas-cookie exchange party!

It started out as an actual baking day with a few of my cousins, aunts, and my mom and I all getting together to bake and decorate cookies. It has transformed into a “bake-10-dozen-before-you-come-and exchange-while-we-drink-wine-and-eat-hors-d’oeuvres” night. Really, it’s just an excuse to get together with the people we love and make more Christmas memories.

This year in particular the theme was ‘tacky Christmas apparel’ and we enjoyed a few bottles of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, over 25 dozen cookies, and my cousin’s new Apple TV. We all took turns picking out our favorite Christmas songs and singing and dancing along.

My favorite Christmas song (which I just realized my true adoration for it) is the classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Something about the song always reminds me of my parents annual Christmas Day dinner party and the nostalgia always gets me just a little bit… *happy tear*.

I think all families have traditions that no other families have and really, that is what the holidays are all about. Spending time with the people you love to create memories and spread cheer and joy.

I’d love to hear more about certain family traditions that you all have in the comments section!
