This past weekend my best friend in the whole world, Liz, came to visit me in D.C. It was the perfect girls weekend that went entirely too fast.
She got into town around 8:30 on Friday night so we dedicated the night to wine, re-runs of Friends, and being in bed by 10:30.
Saturday morning we woke up to head west into Loudon County, VA for a fun-filled day of wine tasting. My big from my sorority in college is getting married in May, so her sister hosted a winery tour and surprise shower for her. We visited Cana Vineyards and 50 West Vineyards and did wine tasting at both. The best part of each was the seasonal mulled wine that made us all extra cozy and extra happy.
Following the wineries we went to her sister's house for a surprise mini-shower. It was just a small group of us on this occasion and the theme was 'flags' so that we could all get her different flags for her future home. It was such a cute idea an everyone got super creative. She was extremely happy that we all were there to celebrate and we had a perfect afternoon.
Following the wineries, Liz and I stopped by my place and walked up to Cactus Cantina, which is a Mexican place right nearby. We spilt a delicious pitcher of margaritas that may or may not have complimented all of the wine we had drank earlier. Saturday was concluded with a short night of dancing with some friends in town, and back in bed by midnight (we're proud grandmas).
Sunday morning we went to the most notorious D.C. brunches at El Centro in Georgetown. For $35 you get all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink for two hours. They ended up not capping us at 2 hours so three hours later and a little bit wobbly we hit the streets of Georgetown for some shopping. We spent all of our money at Sephora and regret none of it.
It was honestly the perfect weekend and I wish I was reliving it now instead of being on the Monday-grind. I actually have a really fun week ahead though, and then I'm off to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving a week from today! I hope this was helpful for any of you looking to plan girls-weekend activities here in D.C.
