I absolutely LOVE me a good plaid blanket scarf! My two favorites are in the carousel above... I legitimately wear them all the time.
I feel like plaid is just the most classic pattern for this time of year. It's timeless and fashionable and can be worn either dressy or casual. When blanket scarves really started becoming trendy a few years ago I picked one up (the green/tan plaid one in the pictures) from a small boutique in the Del Ray neighborhood of Northern Virginia. Now they've taken off and you can find them almost anywhere!
I think what I like most is that you can wear them as classic scarves or as a blanket/shawl. They're unbelievably warm and comfortable yet worn either way, they make you look so put together in a matter of seconds.
I've gathered up some of my favorites below from Forever 21 (red/black pictured above), Amazon (green/tan pictured above), Loft, Banana Republic, JCrew, JCrew Factory, Nordstrom, and Target all pictured below with links.
These are perfect for yourself to wear around the holidays or as gifts for other people because none of them are over $30. And a fun idea is to host a scarf exchange party. A friend of mine back in Pittsburgh just bought a new house and wanted to have all of us girls over to see it. She decided that instead of a typical grab-bag or white elephant she would have us all bring different scarves to exchange. How great of an idea is that?!
The holidays are just such an amazing time of the year and classic pieces like this get me even more in the mood. Stay tuned for more detailed gift guides, but for now start off with a few blanket scarves!
