I don't know if you all have noticed on my Instagram or stories recently, but I have become slightly OBSESSED with Turtlenecks. I got my first couple last year (first couple since I was a little girl and my mom made me wear them) and I decided to restock on classic black and white ones earlier this Fall. Well, I loved how they looked with so many different outfits that I kind of went on a binder.
On Black Friday I stopped into Sears, who carries the Lands End brand, and found 3 different Christmas-y plaid turtlenecks that are warm and fit absolutely perfectly! One is white-based with red, green, and black plaid. The other is red-based with green, white, and black plaid. The last is a classic navy and green plaid that I foresee wearing well into the winter months.
2) Laduree- Georgetown
I dedicated an entire post to Laduree, but I seriously cannot get enough. I first visited the café in Paris, but thankfully a location opened in Georgetown and I've stopped in on way more than a handful of occasions.
Most recently I visited when my mom was in town to treat her to brunch. As is necessary we order a hot chocolate which is seriously the best I've had outside of Angelina's in Paris. It is basically drinking chocolate and keeps you warm and satisfied. We split the Laduree omelet and topped the meal with two macaroons of our choosing. It was such a perfect spot for a mother-daughter date!
3) Faux Fur Throws
I just recently realized that I've basically started collecting faux fur throws. They just add so much warmth and character to my holiday and winter décor, not to mention they are simply the warmest things.
Currently out in my apartment is a pure white faux fur throw, a double sided (half plaid, half red faux fur) throw, and a classic brown faux fur throw. They are located in different spots and really complement each other and the apartment. AND when I'm sick (like I was yesterday) the three combined make me cozier than a hibernating bear.
4) Trader Joes Bourbon Chocolates
I just came across these this past weekend and I stocked up because I can only imagine how fast they'll fly off of the shelves. For just $2.99 you get a HUGE box of the chocolates.
I myself don't often mix alcohol into my chocolate consumption, but I just think they make the perfect gift. So often we all are tasked with getting gifts for co-workers, distant relatives, friends of friends, hostesses, etc... they aren't the at the level where they get an expensive, time consuming gift, but they do deserve something! In comes these chocolates. I'm stocked up with 15 boxes... but I may need more.
5) Plaid Wine Gift Bags
I picked up about 10 of these on sale at TJ Maxx last year right after Christmas. Think reusable shopping back material but the size of a wine gift-bag. They are plaid with leather accent handles and make the bottle of wine you're gifting extra special and elegant.
6) Black Tights
This is SO standard, but when the cold weather hits I pull out my 5 pairs of rotating black tights. I feel like they tie every outfit together and make me look more attune to the winter weather. As I sit here typing I'm wearing a plaid turtleneck, red A-line skirt, and of course my black tights.
I ALWAYS, and I mean always buy my tights at White House Black Market. The quality is unbeatable! I've had one or two of my pairs for almost three years and even though they've been washed countless times they still hold their elasticity and leg coverage.
7) Animal Holiday Costumes
I just can't resist a good pet costume. Ever since buying a kitten I basically squeal every time I see a little outfit that she could wear. She wasn't quite the fan of the witches hat I bought her for Halloween, but my Christmas purchases have worked thus far.
On Black Friday I bought her a 'ho ho ho' scarf that has worked out quite well. So far she hasn't tried to eat it or massacre it, so we're looking good! The real kicker is the Christmas dress I found at TJ Maxx this past weekend... she didn't quite love the try-on session, but I will make sure to work on it so she can be fashionable on Christmas Day.
8) Harry Potter Marathons
Did you all hear? Freeform lost it's license to Harry Potter. This means that after December there will no longer be entire weekends dedicated to the movies. *Picture me sitting here crying, because I really am.*
So, tune in to your favorite 25 Days of Christmas and soak in all of the Harry Potter you can. Looks like now you really will have to buy all of the DVDs to make sure they're always accessible.
9) Velvet. Everything.
It reminds me so much of my childhood and I laugh every time I buy a new piece because my mom and I used to get into screaming matches when she would try to dress me in velvet. But, as is inevitable, it appears my Mom was right and velvet is the way to go.
I just bought an emerald green velvet dress that looks like a prospect for my New Years so we shall see!
10) Family and Friends
This is a given. Family and friends is what the holidays are about. It's not about the gifts or glamour of the holiday season, but spending time with the ones you love <3
