So for the past 2 months I’ve been routinely going to Blast in Washington, D.C. I first heard about the studio through the Under Armour Will Finds a Way campaign and instantly fell in love. Fast forward a few weeks and the manager of the studio offered me a brand-ambassadorship with Blast. I immediately said yes because I firmly believe in only working with brands that I feel strongly about and actually recommend to my readers and followers.
So, two months later I want to share my honest impression after having gone to class about 2-3 times a week consistently.
I’M OBSESSED AND I LOVE IT!!!!
A bit of background about the studio: Blast is an interval class of both cardio and strength training and designed so that your body never gets comfortable in a workout and it constantly being trained and toned. The studio itself prides itself on being adaptable to each individual person through customizable workouts, consistent workout adaptations, and the option to have your metabolic profile done to give you a high-intensity vs. low-intensity plan based on how your body is processing oxygen.
I did my metabolic profile right away and was given a heart monitor to wear during each class. Based on my goals the trainer recommended I do 2 low-intensity days and 4 high-intensity days per week. Based on the test, my low-intensity consists of keeping my heart rate below 155; therefore, high-intensity would constitute anything above. When I’m doing low-intensity I am in a constant fat-burning state, and when I’m doing high I’m in a carbohydrate burning state along with cardiovascular training.
Because I’m only in the studio 2-3 times a week I can apply these rules to other workouts to make sure I’m staying on-track with my goals. I generally do my low-intensity days at Blast, and my high-intensity days at my home gym on the Pelaton cycling machine. It’s also super applicable when I’m traveling because I can either plan a hike, visit a hotel gym, or check out a local studio class to make sure I’m staying on track.
Aside from the workout I’m also blown away by the Blast life family. The trainers, owners, and other class members are simply amazing. They’re supportive, encouraging, and motivational making me not only want to go to class, but to also CRUSH any class I’m in. I’ve met some of the most amazing people that truly embody everything I’ve been searching for in a workout support system. For me, workouts are all about body positivity and celebrating what my body can do. It’s not about competition, it’s not about perfection, it’s simply about celebration and letting my body perform to the extent it’s able.
I look forward to many many many more months with Blast. I’ve found a workout I love and a support system that’s incomparable. AND, those of you that follow me on Instagram know, I’m now #sweatingforthewedding so Blast will be part of my wedding journey. SO… stay tuned.
And, if you’re in the DC area be sure to schedule your first 3 classes for $34 by calling the studio and mentioning my name. If you want a workout buddy you can DM on Instagram so we can schedule that class together ensuring you have an immediate friend in class.
