This past Saturday two of my favorite people in the world threw a "Halfway to Halloween" party to celebrate their upcoming marriage. Little did we know that we were actually walking into their wedding because they had officially tied the knot at the courthouse on Friday the 13th in perfect fashion for the celebration. The party was down in Richmond and was complete with ghouls, goblins, werewolves, vampires, blood, gore, and the likes. It was one of the most unique and well-done events I've ever seen and I was so happy to be a part of their special day.
Sarah was actually one of the first people I met at George Mason University and through a ton of mutual ties, friends, and work we continued our friendship all throughout our college years and very thankfully ever since. She is one of the kindest, sweetest, bubbly, hardworking, loving people you'll ever meet, and Shane is just the same, making them the perfect power couple. The pair met a couple of years ago on OKCupid, and have been on this journey towards marriage arguably since the day they met. The two of them are just in perfect sync and bring out the very best in each other.
Devin and I had such a blast on Saturday. It was of course costume-themed so Devin and I decided to be Tommy Pickles and Reptar. A couple friends of ours were Vikings complete with amazing homemade shields and an axe... it was super impressive! Another friend dressed up at poison ivy and her costume was seriously on fleek (did I use that terminology correctly?). Everyone there looked absolutely amazing and had just the best time! I think it's truly a testimate to the couple how much fun their guests had celebrating two people that they love.
I'm so happy for Sarah and Shane and wish them a lifetime of happiness. And now that we've found out that they'll be staying in Virginia (there was the possibility of them moving to Portland) I'm thrilled to be able to watch as their journey in life unfolds. I love you both and congratulations!
